Engineering a Mars Rover

This class is all about engineering and is suited for children as young as six years old. Throughout the week, children learn and practice how to blueprint ideas, build with real tools, and test their creation. All of this within a similar authenticity to what scientists and engineers do.

Class Overview

Day 1: We start the class by discussing some basic facts about Mars. We then proceed to blueprint the rover’s base and building the frame.

Day 2: We blueprint wheels and axles and build those into the rover.

Day 3: We work with simple series circuits. We then use a small motor, propeller, and a switch to power the Mars Rover.

Day 4: We finalize the electrical components of the rover, test, and make any final modifications.

Day 5: We present our models with the whole group.
